Acorn Run

This acorn is an interactive sculpture that can be used by adults and children to roll acorns down the groove as a fun game.

This solid sculpture has been carved from oak. The oak tree is where the acorn seed comes from.

The Acorn Run is part of the Frog Pond Wood sculpture trail.

Sculpture trail created by Ami Marsden and Nigel Simpson.

Activity

Have a look around for some acorns. This sculpture has been sited close to oak trees so you shouldn’t have to go far to find one!

They will be fresh and green in autumn and brown and dry in winter, and either is fine.

Start from the top of the run and release your acorn to let it roll down the groove. Follow your acorn and run around the sculpture as it rolls down!

Suggestions

  1. Why not fill your pockets and gather some fresh acorns to take with you to plant? You could plant some in your garden or on another walk somewhere else. Next year you might come back and find you have a little tree sapling.
