Rest Bay Watersports Centre

Master watersports with expert lessons in Rest Bay. The centre offers surf hire and year-round classes with the award-winning Porthcawl Surf School, as well as stand-up paddle board training. Also, you can study to become a lifeguard or surf instructor here.

It’s a really great location to learn at. The centre overlooks the beautiful, clean waters of Rest Bay, a blue flag beach, and Porthcawl is one of Britain’s fastest growing surf destinations. Perhaps that’s because it’s a convenient three hour trip from London. That makes it the closest, most consistent watersports destination to the UK capital, and it’s less than an hour from Cardiff. Indeed, this state-of-the-art centre is the Welsh Coast Surf Club’s home.

Other beach activities

There’s lots more interesting things to see and do here too. Bike tours are available to points of interest throughout Porthcawl and Newton, as well as a tour based around Kenfig dunes’ legends. There are courses for environmental education and ocean literacy, with outdoor learning. Also if you’re keen to help the environment, the centre is a hub for beach cleaning events.
