Bridgend Bowls Hall car park given makeover as part of Safer Streets Project

The Bowls Hall car park in Bridgend has recently received a makeover from artists Another day Another spray, THEW Creative and Abys.

Local young people were also given the opportunity to produce some street art on the car park pillars, as part of an organised workshop.

The project was made possible thanks to the Safer Streets partnership, which secured funding for street art projects in the area, as part of a wider initiative worth almost £750,000.

The programme is a joint partnership between Bridgend County Borough Council and the Police and Crime Commissioner for South Wales. Other projects include crime prevention roadshows, self-defence classes, taxi marshals, bystander training and more.

The aim of the street art is to improve the look and feel of the car park, whilst creating a safer and more appealing environment for residents. The new purposefully designed art has replaced old graffiti and features some designs which are linked to Bridgend.

It’s great that the Safer Streets funding is already being put to good use and benefitting our local communities.

The street art has really brightened up the bowls hall car park and hopefully this will help residents to feel more comfortable whilst using the facility.

It’s also pleasing that many young residents have had the chance to take part and I would like to give credit to the street artists, and all involved in the project.

Cllr Neelo Farr, Cabinet Member for Regeneration
