Litter bins
Litter should always be disposed of responsibly; it is a criminal offence to discard litter in a public place.
If you drop litter in a public place, you have committed an offence and may be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice of £100 under the powers of the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005.
Types of litter bins

Dog fouling bins
These have been placed at popular locations throughout the county borough to reduce contamination and improve recycling in litter bins.

BBQ disposal bins
These can be found along the Porthcawl coastline. Barbeques must be cooled before disposal.

Dual recycling bins
These can be found in Maesteg and Porthcawl, and accept mixed recycling including - glass, paper & card, cans, and plastic.

What can be placed in dual recycling bins?
- cans

- plastic bottles
- glass bottles
These items should be placed in designated bins or disposed of at home with household waste and / or recycling.
- dog waste
- nappies
- food waste
- disposable bbq's and coals
- plastic bags
Flammable items such as vapes and gas canisters should be disposed of safely at our local community recycling centres
What if a litter bin is full?
All our litter bins are emptied on a regular basis. If a litter bin is full, please take your litter home with you and dispose of it with your recycling or household waste.

You can also report issues with dog fouling, and fly-tipping.
Not all litter bins in the county borough are managed by the council, some are managed by other organisations such as housing associations, parks, or town councils.
