Compulsory Purchase Order – Long Term Empty Property
On 22 July 2025 the council’s Cabinet provided formal approval to make, advertise and, if confirmed by the Welsh Ministers, implement a Compulsory Purchase Order to acquire 44 Neath Road, Maesteg, CF36 9EE to exercise powers conferred by Section 17 of the Housing Act 1985 to bring the property back into beneficial use for residential purposes.
Following receipt of this Cabinet approval the Bridgend County Borough Council (Acquisition of 44 Neath Road, Maesteg) Compulsory Purchase Order 2025 (“the CPO”) was formally made by the council on 24 September 2025.
Following the making of the CPO, the council served the statutory notice, CPO and Statement of Reasons.
The statutory notice has been placed in the local newspaper and site notices have been displayed to advertise the CPO – the notice gives details of how an objection to the CPO may be lodged.
