Waste and recycling collections to start earlier due to extreme heat

Tuesday 23 June 2026

Waste and recycling collections in Bridgend County Borough will start earlier than usual on Wednesday 24 June and Thursday 25 June to help protect the crews from extreme heat and to also reduce the chances of any uncompleted rounds.

Collections are expected to start at around 4.30am and all residents are advised to put their waste and recycling out the night before their usual collection date.

The Met Office has issued a red heat warning on 24 and 25 June, with temperatures forecast to reach up to 37°C.

“This is a proactive decision which helps to reduce the chance of any uncompleted rounds while also prioritising the health and safety of waste and recycling crews. “We're asking residents to play their part by putting their waste and recycling out earlier and efforts will be made to keep noise disruption to a minimum during the earlier collection times. “It would also be appreciated if affected residents can let their neighbours know about these temporary changes and help us spread the word around their local communities.”
