Summer reading challenge set to launch with a host of fun-filled activities

Awen Cultural Trust in partnership with Bridgend County Borough Council will launch the 2024 Summer Reading Challenge and Awen Libraries’ summer programme of activities with a fun-filled, family event at Newbridge Fields in Bridgend on Saturday 13 July from 12noon to 3pm.

D-Day is remembered across Bridgend County Borough

Events across the county borough are planned to mark June 6, 2024, the 80-year anniversary of D-Day, the largest seaborne invasion in history. Codenamed ‘Operation Overlord’, more than 150,000 Allied troops landed on five beaches in Normandy using ships and landing craft, laying the foundations for Germany’s defeat in World War II (WWII).

Bridgend town centre exhibits ‘diversity’ artwork

Bridgend town centre is set to become the stage of inspirational, original artwork created by art and design students from Bridgend College, as a result of a collaboration between the college and Bridgend County Borough Council.
