Bedford Park

This park has about 18 hectares of green space and ruins of the 18th Century Cefn Cribwr Ironworks.

The Site of Interest for Nature Conservation (SINC) has a mixture of habitats. These are mainly broadleaved woodland with rush pastures, purple moor grass, scrub, bracken, rivers and ponds. Part of the SINC, ‘Waun Cimla’ is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to its marshy habitats, rare plants, and marsh fritillary butterflies.

Also, dormice have been recorded here, which makes it one of only a few sites in Bridgend County Borough with this European protected species.
