Upgraded pitch boosts community sport in Bridgend County Borough

A six-figure investment has seen the artificial sports pitch at Bryntirion Comprehensive School transformed into a high-quality facility for pupils, grassroots teams and the wider Bridgend County Borough community.
The newly renovated facility has been delivered through funding from the Cymru Football Foundation (CFF), Welsh Government, including Sport Wales and the Community Focused Schools Fund, and Bridgend County Borough Council.
The upgraded pitch now includes a full-sized 3G surface, new fencing and goal posts, modern dugouts and upgraded floodlights.
A dedicated spectator zone and walkway have also been introduced to create a welcoming and accessible space for pupils, players, coaches and spectators to enjoy the facility.
Adding a strong local and cultural connection to the new facility, a mural celebrating Bridgend-born former Cymru internationals Laura McAllister and Gwennan Harries has also been unveiled.
The artwork serves as a tribute to their contribution to Welsh football and an inspiration to young players using the new facility, linking to the area’s proud local heritage.
