Parking ticket machines across Bridgend County Borough to be upgraded
Wednesday 02 September 2026
Work to upgrade parking ticket machines at five council-operated car parks across Bridgend County Borough is due to begin in September.
The works will initially take place at car parks in Bridgend on 8 September before moving to Porthcawl and Rest Bay from 15 September. Each location is expected to take around two to three days to complete.
The improvements will make the machines easier to use and more accessible for residents and visitors, while also meeting the latest Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) requirements by being placed at accessible locations and heights within the car parks.
While no major disruption is expected, some machines may be temporarily unavailable while the work is taking place. PayByPhone will remain available, and motorists can use the app or call PayByPhone directly to pay for parking.
The programme includes car parks at:
• Bowls Hall, Bridgend
• Bridgend Life Centre Pool Car Park (Rear car park)
• Tondu Road, Bridgend
• Rest Bay Car Park
• Hillsboro Car Park, Porthcawl
“These new improvements reflect our commitment to ensuring that our services remain inclusive and accessible for all residents and visitors, while also benefiting the experience for all car park users. “We are working with the engineers to minimise any disruption during the works, and we’d like to thank residents and visitors for their cooperation.”
