Newton Primary School praised for pupils’ positive attitude to learning!

Porthcawl’s Newton Primary School has been recognised for a host of strengths, including pupils’ enthusiasm to learn, in an Estyn inspection that took place in February this year.

Inspectors noted how the learners are offered rich and varied learning experiences that motivate and engage them, as well as how the school environment encourages pupils to become ambitious, confident and independent learners.

According to the Estyn report, a particular strength of the school’s provision is its ‘Newton University’ - an enrichment initiative which provides an opportunity for pupils from different year groups to participate in a programme of planned activities that are not usually available in lessons. In addition, the caring and inclusive community, highlighted in the report, ensures that staff, pupils, and their families feel valued and respected.

Headteacher, Rachel John, acknowledged for her purposeful leadership of the school, said: “I am extremely proud that Newton Primary School has been recognised for our outstanding efforts and achievements. This inspection truly captures the essence of our school community and is a testament to the hard work and dedication of both our pupils and staff.

One aspect that the inspection report highlighted is the exemplary behaviour of our pupils. Our children consistently demonstrate excellent manners, showing care and consideration for one another. This is a true testament to the positive values and ethos that we promote at Newton Primary School.

The report praised our committed staff team for providing outstanding learning experiences that actively engage our pupils' interest. Our staff are dedicated to creating a positive and stimulating learning environment where children are excited about their education.

Moving forward, as a school, we will continue to build on this success, constantly striving to inspire our pupils to reach their full potential. We recognise the importance of a well-rounded education and will continue to offer a wide range of opportunities for our pupils to explore and develop their talents.”
