Marking Carers’ Week across Bridgend County Borough
Monday 08 June 2026
Today marks the start of Carers Week 2026, which is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution of unpaid carers across Bridgend County Borough.
Earlier today we raised the Carers’ flag at Civic Offices. We will also light the building blue and white this evening, and on the 14 June to mark the start and the end of this important week.
Every day, thousands of people provide unpaid care and support to family members, friends and neighbours who could not manage without them. Their dedication, compassion and commitment make a significant difference to the lives of those they care for and to our wider communities.
We are continuing to work closely with carers, partner organisations, and local communities to improve the support available to unpaid carers across Bridgend County Borough. This has included strengthening our Carers Wellbeing Service, developing new wellbeing opportunities, expanding support for young carers, and working alongside carers to shape future services through co-production and engagement.
There’s plenty going on across Bridgend County Borough during Carers Week (8–14 June) with events.

“Within Bridgend County Borough there are just over 15,000 unpaid carers. The role of being a carer affects all aspects of life. While we know that many feel that caring is one of the most important things they can do, its challenges should not be underestimated. It is vital we recognise the contribution carers make and help ensure they get the support they need.”
If you or someone you know needs support, you can find out more by visiting the Carers’ Wellbeing page on the council’s website.
