Local kitchen manufacturer boosts productivity with council support
Wednesday 14 January 2026
A local kitchen furniture manufacturer has boosted their productivity, thanks to support from funding the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Bridgend County Borough Council.
Sigma 3 Kitchens, specialise in the design, sales, and manufacture of bespoke kitchens, serving Wales and the UK for over 50 years. After acquiring a manufacturing facility unit on Bridgend Industrial Estate, the company was awarded a ‘Business Development Grant’ to support the purchase a new CNC drilling machine, which will allow them to perform several functions that they currently rely on third parties for. A total of 220 full-time and eight part-time staff are employed in the company and the opening of a new manufacturing line will allow them to secure ongoing employment.
The council’s Mayor, Councillor Huw David, Leader, John Spanswick, and Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Economic Development and Housing, Neelo Farr, recently visited the Bridgend site, for a tour of the facilities and an opportunity to see the new investment.
“We’ve had such a positive relationship with the council, they have been so encouraging and co-operative with our move to Bridgend. This funding has allowed us to buy new equipment, which has been a huge boost to our business and productivity. Without the grant, the purchase would have been postponed for at least 12 to 18 months, as it had been moved to longer-term plans due to financial constraints. The support accelerated our plans and ensured we could move ahead without compromising growth. As a result of the new investment, we have been able to create new jobs at our Bridgend facility, making it a more capable and competitive site. Despite the challenging economic climate, we have had a strong year, and we have big plans for the coming years. We cannot thank Bridgend County Borough Council enough for supporting us with the grant; it has been greatly appreciated.”
“The team at Sigma 3 have gone from strength to strength and we are really pleased that we have been able to help them develop further. Having such a strong company in Bridgend is a massive boost for the economy and it was remarkable getting to see the new machinery in action.”
“It was an absolute pleasure to visit Sigma 3 and see, first-hand, how the council’s support has helped them. This machinery is cutting edge, and they are so passionate about the products they deliver. I would highly recommend any businesses in the county borough to get in touch about the grants we have to offer; there is plenty of support available, which could take your business to new heights.”
