Fuel Support Scheme closes at the end of the month

With over 15,000 payments to households so far, the Welsh Government Fuel Support Scheme has been running for the last four months and is due to close on February 28.

It is important that all eligible residents receive the funding that is available to them and that they don’t miss this opportunity.

The scheme is in addition to the Energy Bill rebate being offered by the UK Government and the Winter Fuel Payment normally paid to pensioners.

The council has contacted known eligible residents by letter, with applications being made available online through the council’s ‘My Account’ facility. However, if you think that your household may meet the criteria for the grant and you haven’t yet applied, please refer to the extensive list of qualifying benefits.  These include disability benefits such as Attendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance and Personal Independence Payment, plus many more.

To find out more about the eligible criteria, as well as additional information, visit the Bridgend County Borough Council website

The opportunity to benefit from this scheme will end soon and we encourage eligible residents to apply for the funding to ensure that they do not miss out. It is so important that they take advantage of the financial support being offered by Welsh Government.

We have received a great response to date, with over £3m of funding distributed across the community to assist with any financial load. We are keen to ensure that everyone that is eligible will benefit.

Councillor Hywel Williams, Cabinet Minister for Resources
