Events set to mark International Older Persons Day across Bridgend County Borough

Bridgend County Borough Council at its partners will be holding a series of events across the county borough next week to mark International Older Persons Day on Sunday 1 October.

The day was initiated by the United Nations in 1990 to honour the efforts of older people and the value they bring into our society.

Sessions will include Nordic walking classes, feel good for life sessions, craft groups, breathing space creative groups, keep fit classes and much more.

Tanio Cymru, Halo Leisure and Awen Wales will be delivering the sessions and a full timetable of the events can be viewed on our website, along with details on booking arrangements.

Councillor Neelo Farr, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Wellbeing said, “International Older Persons Day is a significant day for us to honour the older people in our society and I am delighted that such a variety of events are taking place across the county borough.

“There is something for everyone on offer during the next week and it is wonderful that these events will be continuing regularly. I would highly recommend anybody interested in any of these events to attend – I’m sure the older people in the county borough will get a lot of enjoyment out of them.”
