Equality, diversity, and inclusion are core values at Coychurch Primary School

In a recent Estyn inspection, Coychurch Primary School was praised for encouraging its learners to develop a good understanding of the importance of equality, diversity, and inclusion.

The Estyn report highlights how the school maintains a strong ethos of respect and tolerance, with adults’ high expectations of behaviour ensuring that pupils act with consideration towards others.

In addition, the report recognises the rich and varied curriculum provision that succeeds in engaging learners at the school, with funded support programmes in place to help pupils make strong progress.

The close knit, inclusive and happy school community is attributed to the committed leadership of the headteacher, Sue Hurry, who is said to lead by example and whose vision nurtures the wellbeing of everyone at the school. 

Headteacher, Sue Hurry, said: “The staff, governors and entire community of Coychurch Primary School are delighted that Estyn recognised that we are a vibrant, inclusive school, that places a high priority on securing everyone’s wellbeing.

“As a school, we are committed to providing our pupils with a rich and engaging curriculum, and it is wonderful that the report reflects this. I am immensely proud of the children, staff and the whole school community.  This report is testimony to the hard work and commitment shown by everybody.”

This is a wonderful Estyn inspection report. When children are taught the significance of inclusivity and equality, it bodes well for our future society - one which ensures that everyone is treated fairly and with respect.
