Council takes action over illegally parked caravans

Bridgend County Borough Council has confirmed that action is being taken after a number of caravans gained access to playing fields at Litchard late on Monday evening.
Council officers have initiated a legal process after visiting the location to engage with the caravan owners and advise them that they are parked illegally, and are working closely alongside partner agencies such as South Wales Police.
Soon after the caravans gained access to the playing fields, the council started the process of preparing to take action to ensure they vacate the site. Local authorities are legally required to undertake mandatory checks and welfare assessments in circumstances such as this, and the council is liaising with the travelling community to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. I want to reassure residents that we are monitoring the situation closely, and that the process for the safe removal of the caravans has already started.
The council will carry out an inspection of the site once the caravans have been removed.
