Council Deputy Leader is nominated for Equality Award

Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Social Services and Early Help, Councillor Jane Gebbie, has been nominated for the Ron Todd Award for Equality by more than 11 organisations or individuals.

Awards will be presented at the annual Ron Todd’s Memorial Lecture, held at the Marx Memorial and Workers’ School in London on 11 March, marking the date of what would have been his 96th birthday.

An English Trade Union Leader, Ron Todd strove for social equality - an intention which underpins the work of the Ron Todd Foundation.

Promising to be a high-profile event, involving speakers including Ian Hodson of the Bakers Union and Roger McKenzie, general secretary of Liberation, the Memorial Lecture celebrates the work of people contributing to creating social fairness for all.

I couldn’t be more honoured to be nominated for this award. My work is centred around my commitment to social equality; it lies at the heart of everything I do.

I am so very grateful that my contribution to this cause has been recognised in the nomination for the Ron Todd Equality Award.

Deputy Leader, Councillor Jane Gebbie
