Coety Primary School is celebrating a highly positive outcome following its recent Estyn inspection, with inspectors praising the school as a welcoming and nurturing community where pupils thrive, make strong progress and feel safe, happy and ready to learn.

Estyn, the education and training inspectorate for Wales, praised the school's leadership as "dynamic and innovative" and highlighted its consistently effective teaching, strong culture of inclusion and clear vision of helping pupils to "be the best that they can be".

The report noted that most pupils, including those with additional learning needs (ALN), make strong progress from their starting points and recognised the strong sense of belonging experienced by learners across the school.

Strengths were identified across leadership, teaching, inclusion, pupil voice, family engagement and continuous improvement. The inspection also praised the school's highly effective self-evaluation processes, strong support for pupils with ALN and authentic opportunities for pupils to develop leadership skills and make a positive contribution to their community.

The school's innovative "Tapestry of Voices" approach was also highlighted, which ensures pupils, parents, staff and governors all play a meaningful role in shaping the future direction of the school. Pupils were also described as "exceptionally polite, well-behaved" and demonstrating "high levels of care and empathy for those around them", reflecting the school's nurturing ethos.

Strong partnerships with families and the wider community were also recognised. Inspectors highlighted the success of the school's parent and toddler group in helping children and families build confidence, establish positive relationships with the school and begin their education ready to learn and develop friendships.

"We are incredibly proud of this report because it reflects the collective efforts of our entire school community. It recognises the dedication of our staff, the support of our families and governors, and most importantly the wonderful children who make Coety Primary School such a special place to learn and grow. "We are particularly pleased that inspectors recognised the caring, inclusive and ambitious culture that exists throughout the school. Creating an environment where children feel safe, valued and inspired to succeed has always been at the heart of our vision."
"This report is a tremendous achievement for our entire school community and one that we are incredibly proud to celebrate. As Chair of Governors, I have seen first-hand the dedication, care and commitment shown by our staff, pupils, parents and governors, and it is wonderful to see these efforts recognised by Estyn. “The publication of the report marks an important milestone in the school’s continued journey of improvement. Through a clear vision, a commitment to innovation and a relentless focus on the needs of children, Coety Primary School has established itself as a thriving learning community where pupils are encouraged to “be the best that they can be. We look forward to continuing to work alongside school leaders, staff and families as the school builds on this success and continues to provide the very best opportunities for all learners. “On behalf of the governing body, I would like to thank everyone who contributes to making Coety Primary School such a thriving and caring community. We are excited about the future and all that our pupils will continue to achieve.”
"This is an excellent inspection outcome for Coety Primary School and everyone involved should be extremely proud. "It is particularly encouraging to see the school's strong leadership, commitment to inclusion, innovative approach to pupil voice and high-quality support for learners with additional learning needs recognised by Estyn. "My congratulations go to the headteacher, staff, governors, pupils and families for creating such a welcoming and successful school community. This is testament to their dedication and hard work, and I wish them every success as they continue to build on this achievement."
