Business in Bridgend ranked among the fastest growing in Wales

A business in Bridgend that has been supported by the council has been ranked one of the fastest growing businesses in Wales in the 2026 UK Fast Growth Index, along receiving the prestigious Sustainable Growth Award.
Tollgate Engineering Services Ltd, based in Pyle and operating since 2019, have had an increased turnover of 95 per cent over the past two years and as a result has been recognised with the Sustainable Growth Award, having appeared in the UK Fast Growth Index for four consecutive years.
The business, specialising in building services engineering, provides a full range of mechanical and electrical engineering services. They are currently working closely with an international modular housing manufacturer on research and development on volume manufacturing of modular homes.
The company’s growth has been supported by long-standing client relationships, repeat business and continued investment in their employees and equipment. In March 2025, Tollgate received a UK Government Shared Prosperity funded Business Development Grant of £31,063.98 towards the purchase of fitting out the new premises and new IT equipment, having made the move from Baglan Energy Park in Port Talbot to Village Farm Industrial Estate.
The investment in the new office facility ensured suitability for their needs and future business growth plans, safeguarding the 17 existing jobs and creating further jobs.
