A community effort to raise funds for Bridgend’s vulnerable children

Pupils at Brynteg Comprehensive School collaborated with the Tabernacle Church, along with local businesses and charities, to raise funds for gifts for vulnerable young people and children, who otherwise would not receive presents at Christmas.

For many years, Brynteg Comprehensive School has fundraised for the Santa Appeal.  Rhys Fairchild, a Year Ten pupil at the school, explains the motivation behind his efforts to raise funds: “I have the luxury of receiving gifts at Christmas, others are less fortunate. I wanted to help others in the local area, as well as help the school with reaching their fundraising target.

“The Santa Appeal has made me more aware of how lucky I am, and the issues facing those in our local community”.

It is wonderful to witness how people can come together and collectively make a difference to the lives of others who are in need.

The thoughtful actions of those involved in the fundraising for the Santa Appeal has made a huge difference to those vulnerable children at Christmas.

We are so proud of and inspired by what can be achieved when we work together.

Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Social Services and Early Help, Councillor Jane Gebbie

This has been an incredible opportunity to highlight the philanthropy of the younger generation, and their capacity to empathise with others who are less fortunate than themselves.
