Laleston Community Councils - Electoral Arrangement review

The council is consulting on a change to the electoral arrangements and governance of the Laleston Community Council, following a request from the Community Council themselves. The aim of this review is to revise the parity between the wards, following significant increase in the electorate for this area over the past few years. The intention is for this to then come into force in time for the Local Elections in May 2027.

Laleston Community Council has three wards: Cefn Glas 1, Cefn Glas 2 and Laleston/Bryntirion. This consultation does not change these wards or consider any boundary changes.

Currently, Laleston Community Council is split as follows:

Laleston Community Council Council Electorate No. of Cllrs at Present Cllr/Elector Ratio
Cefn Glas 1 1,411 4 353
Cefn Glas 2 1,861 4 465
Laleston/Bryntirion 7,046 5 1,409
