Porthcawl Grand Pavilion redevelopment
Porthcawl’s iconic Grand Pavilion has been granted £18m of funding from the UK Government to support the redevelop and preserve the waterfront landmark.
Additional match funding to support the project has been granted by the council, Welsh Government and the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund.
The redevelopment of the Grade II Listed building will address the existing risks to the building fabric whilst meeting the needs and aspirations of local people for extended and improved arts and heritage services.


Conservation and repairs to some of the building’s iconic Art Deco features include:
- work to the clock tower and stained-glass windows
- new extensions including a glazed, roof top pavilion with views across the Bristol channel
- a passenger lift
- auditorium
- gallery
- toilet facilities
- sensitive restoration of the original domed roof
- original marine-style weathervane reinstatement
