Sustainable Food Economy

Delivery organisation: The Wellbeing Planner

The project’s aim was to establish the Bridgend Sustainable Food Economy Network.

The vision was for a thriving, sustainable local food economy that reduced dependency on imports, increased small-scale food production, and ensured locally grown food is accessible and affordable for all.

Their goal was to build an economy that minimised food waste, embraced innovation and empowered communities to make informed choices that benefit local health, businesses, and the environment.

To deliver that vision, the group came up with the following plan:

  • Create the Bridgend Sustainable Food Economy Network - led by stakeholders.
  • Build capacity and understanding of the issues for a range of different audiences.
  • Raise awareness and informing decision making at every level.
  • Establish localised interventions that would inform and inspire people and decision makers.
  • Encourage local producers and suppliers to work closely with the public sector anchor organisations within the county.
