Local Democracy Resources

Delivery Organisation: Children In Wales

The project engaged with and worked with children and young people aged 11-25 across the county borough to consider and map current information, opportunities and potential gaps or barriers in relation to understanding young people's engagement in democracy within a local context.

Children and young people involved in the project co-produced, developed and tested resources to support and raise awareness of democracy to other children and young people.

The development of resources is intended to raise awareness of local democracy processes and increase engagement by young people in democratic processes (including understanding voting and tiers of government, offering scrutiny and potentially standing for election) thereby engaging residents in civic processes.

For those involved, the project offers the opportunity to gain skills, build their self-confidence and feel empowered to access their rights and be heard.
