Tanio’s CHOOSE // DEWIS project allowed young people in Bettws and surrounding areas to engage with local politics by creating an original music and theatre piece on themes of local government.
Across a series of 14 free sessions, participants aged 11-15 worked with two artists and a wellbeing assistant to write and rehearse an original performance that featured scenes, songs, and dance, all about politics. This was then performed at a local venue, with an audience of family members, friends, and local political figures.
Participants visited the Senedd to learn more about national government and how local democracy impacts on a larger scale.
CHOOSE // DEWIS boosted the participants’ understanding of local politics and skills in creative expression, collaboration, and teamwork. They learned ways to build life-long involvement in decision-making at local and national levels.
