Engineering and Manufacturing Activities

Programme of STEM workshops for secondary schools across Bridgend County Borough. The programme is designed to develop pupils’ employability skills while sparking interest in STEM pathways.

Schools chose from a range of engaging activities that combine aspects of problem-solving, creativity, coding, and teamwork within the context of real-world engineering and manufacturing challenges.

Sessions were hands-on, dynamic, and rooted in scenarios that encourage pupils to think critically and apply STEM concepts in practical ways.  Pupils also had the opportunity to try new approaches and explore equipment they may not normally encounter, all within the safe and familiar environment of their own school.

Workshops typically run for 1 to 2 hours and were primarily aligned with the Curriculum for Wales at Progression Step 4.

By working directly in schools, EESW STEM Cymru reduces barriers to participation and supports Bridgend County Borough schools in preparing pupils for future careers in sectors that are vital to the Cardiff Capital Region’s economy.
