Creative Connections: Arts for Wellbeing
Delivery organisation: Mental Health Matters
Creative Connections: Arts for Wellbeing in Bridgend is a community-based project designed to reduce isolation, strengthen peer connection, and improve emotional wellbeing through inclusive creative activities.
Delivered by Mental Health Matters Wales, the project provides a rolling programme of weekly workshops for adults, alongside a structured strand for young people aged 11–18.
The adult strand (80%) focuses on creative wellbeing sessions such as art, music, and craft workshops, delivered in dementia hubs, wellbeing centres, and community venues. These activities support individuals experiencing loneliness, low confidence, or early-stage mental health challenges.
The youth strand (20%) provides creative workshops during school holidays and term time, delivered in partnership with Bridgend College, schools, and youth groups. Activities include drama, visual arts, and creative writing, designed to build confidence, encourage emotional expression, and promote early intervention.
The project aligns with the UKSPF priority of building healthier, more connected communities, offering preventative wellbeing support that complements statutory services.
This project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
