Blue badge applications
4. Get a blue badge
If you are eligible, you will need to attend an interview in person for your first blue badge. This step verifies your identity and proof of residency. Also, it prevents abuse of the scheme.
You will need all the relevant evidence when you apply. See our interactive guide to blue badge eligibility for what constitutes relevant evidence and also, you will need to bring:
- proof of identity
- a passport standard photograph taken within the last four weeks
- proof of residency
An advisor may ask you to provide more information. There is no charge for a new individual badge. However for organisational badges, there is a £10 charge.
From April 2019, you will be able to apply online.
If you are successful, you will receive the badge in the post. Your use of the badge must adhere to the scheme’s rules as set out in this leaflet.
