Remembrance Day 2023

Remembrance Sunday is an opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.

Remembrance events are just one of the ways we can help to ensure the sacrifices of those who served are never forgotten.

Below are some Remembrance events taking place across the county borough.

Remembrance Day Parade

Sunday 12 November, 10.25am

Bridgend town centre

A parade, organised by Bridgend Town Council and led by the City of Swansea Pipe Band, will muster in Adare Street at the junction with Wyndham Street from 10.25am on Remembrance Sunday.

The parade will set off at 10.40am and march to the War Memorial, Dunraven Place for a service conducted by Reverend Rachel Wheeler. Bridgend Male Voice Choir and Lewis-Merthyr Brass Band will provide musical support.

The Lord Lieutenant of Mid Glamorgan will be in attendance and will take the salute at the march past after the service.

Representatives of The Armed Forces, Veterans, Civic Organisations and Associations, Town and Community Councils, and members of the public will be attending to mark the commemoration.

St Cynfelyn’s Church, Cymmer Road, Caerau

This service will be followed by a service at the village war memorial on Caerau Square at 10.55am.

Saturday 11 November, 10.45am

Cornelly Community Centre, Cornelly

Service of Remembrance

Sunday 12 November, 10am

Wesleyan Methodist Church, Cefn Cribwr

This service will be followed by a service at the village war memorial on Mynydd Bach Common at 10.55am.

Act of Remembrance

Sunday 12 November, 10.50am - 11.10am

Williams Memorial Hall, Main Road, Coychurch

Service of Remembrance

Sunday 12 November, 10am

St Theodore’s Church, Kenfig Hill

This service will be followed by a service at the Cenotaph, Moriah Place (top cross) at 10.45am.

Memorial Service

Friday 10 November, 10.30am

Llangynwyd Village Hall, Llangynwyd

A Memorial Service will be held followed by the laying of wreaths at the war memorial. Refreshments will be available at the hall afterwards.

RBL Poppy Appeal / Festival of Remembrance

Friday 10 November, 7pm - 9.30pm

Maesteg 7777 RFC, Castle Street, Maesteg

Remembrance parade

Sunday 12 November, 9.30am

Maesteg town centre

Starting at St Michael and All Angels Church, followed by a walk down St Michael's Road, Butlers Hill, crossing Commercial Street and onto Talbot Street to finish outside the war memorial where a two minutes silence will be observed and the laying of the wreaths will commence.

Service of Remembrance

Sunday 12 November, 10.50am

Pricetown Square, Nantymoel

Service includes Roll of Honour, The Last Post, Act of Remembrance and Laying of Wreaths.

Remembrance Parade and Service

Sunday 12 November 

Starting at Pencoed Social Club at 9.30am marching to a service at Salem Chapel, conducted by the Rector Ian Hodges and then onto the Cenotaph at in the town centre.

Remembrance Sunday Service

Sunday 12 November, 10.00am

St David’s Church, Pontycymer

This will be followed by the poppy wreath laying, the minute’s silence and prayers that will take place at 11.00am at the war memorial at Victoria Street, Pontycymer.

Armistice Remembrance Service

Sunday 12 November, 10.30am

All Saints Church, Porthcawl

Members of the community are invited to lay wreaths at the war memorial, All Saints Church, Porthcawl on Saturday 11 November at 11am.

The Royal British Legion, supported by Porthcawl Town Council, will hold a service on Sunday the 12 November. The standards will parade at the War Memorial at 11am for the sound of the last post. Everyone welcome to attend.

A Service of Remembrance, including the laying of Poppy Wreaths

Sunday 12 November, 10.40am

Grounds of Pyle Legion, Pyle

Following the service refreshments will be available in the club. All are welcome and are asked to be at the Legion by 10.30am.
