Winter operating hours at community recycling centres from October 1

From Thursday, October 1 the three Community Recycling Centres in Bridgend county borough will move to winter operating hours which means they will be open from 9am to 4pm seven days a week.

Don’t forget that you can recycle lots of items at the Community Recycling Centres in Tythegston, Maesteg and Brynmenyn.

Materials that can be recycled at the centres include bikes, books, scrap metal, cardboard, electrical items, fridges and freezers, textiles and wood.

Non-recyclable waste can be taken to the centres, but you will be asked to pick out anything recyclable, so it’s best to pre-sort your waste at home before you visit.

For more details on what you can take to the sites to be recycled visit the council website.

The re-use shop at the Maesteg Recycling Centre is open between Tuesday and Friday each week. Covid-19 rules apply with one person allowed in at a time and face coverings being mandatory.

The shop, called the Siding, contains everything from bikes and scooters to books and DVDs, speakers, games and crockery. It is run by social enterprise Wastesavers in partnership with Bridgend County Borough Council and Kier.
