Students celebrate A-Level results across the county borough

The class of 2022 are celebrating across Bridgend County Borough as students have once again produced fantastic AS and A-Level results.

The past few years of studying haven’t been easy for learners, with the pandemic disrupting studies, many students had to adapt to different methods of learning whilst preparing for exams.

There have been many individual achievements and successes in schools throughout the county borough today, with many pupils getting into their first-choice universities and others embarking on other journeys like entering the world of work, beginning an apprenticeship, or going to college to continue studying.

I would like to congratulate all pupils on their success as well as extending thanks to teachers, support staff, governors and parents for the support and dedication they have shown.

It is undeniable that the past few years have been challenging for learners and they should be incredibly proud of themselves for achieving fantastic grades, I wish all students across the county borough the very best in whatever path they choose to venture down next.

Councillor Huw David, Leader of Bridgend County Borough Council

Hannah Castle, Headteacher of Cynffig Comprehensive School said: “Cynffig Comprehensive Staff are delighted to celebrate the success of our students as they receive their A level results.

“Through sheer determination and commitment students at Cynffig have steered themselves through a unique examination system and difficult educational challenges over the last two years.

“We are so pleased for the students and for their families. It is always pleasing to see students achieve their potential but extremely rewarding this year during these unprecedented times with so many achieving A* - C grades. These results will allow so many to move on to their chosen pathways and we feel such pride that we have been able to navigate and support our students during their time in the Sixth form.”

Councillor Jon-Paul Blundell, Cabinet Member for Education added: “I am thrilled to see that pupils across Bridgend County Borough have done so well in this year’s AS and A-Level examinations, with many achieving superb results and getting into their first-choice universities.

“For those of you who didn’t get the results you were expecting today, don’t panic there are plenty of other opportunities available to you.”

If you didn’t quite get the results you were hoping for and are unsure about what the future holds, don’t panic as there are lots of options available:

  • Talk to your school who can offer advice and support on what options are available to you.
  • Visit the Careers Wales website where there are plenty of resources available to help.
  • Look at some of the current job vacancies on the Bridgend County Borough Council website.
  • Consider an apprenticeship where you can work alongside industry professionals, earn a wage, and develop your skills – visit the Welsh Government website for more information.
