Council launches ‘Spend Christmas in your town centre’ campaign

Today (18 November) Bridgend County Borough Council launches its ‘Spend Christmas in your town centre’ campaign, which encourages people to support local businesses and their local community.

The campaign is launching with the release of the council’s 2022 feel-good, Christmas video on YouTube, showcasing a variety of retailers, restaurants, bars, beauty salons and more that are right on our doorstep.

Focusing on all aspects of the festive period, the campaign encourages people to visit their local town centre in the run up to Christmas to shop for gifts, socialise with friends and celebrate the festive period with loved ones.

To encourage people to shop locally a Digital Christmas website has been launched which will run until the 5 January 2023. Specifically, to support town centre businesses, Bridgend County Borough Council is offering businesses in Bridgend, Porthcawl and Maesteg town centres the chance to advertise their promotional offers for free on the ‘Digital Christmas’ website.

As part of the promotion of the website there are three apps which people can download to access shopping offers - We Love Bridgend / Porthcawl /Maesteg. The apps can be downloaded on the Apple App Store or Google Play by searching BRIDGEND / PORTHCAWL / MAESTEG.

You can also find out about the latest Christmas events and parades taking place across the county borough on the council’s website.

Our Christmas film this year really shows the importance of people connecting with each other and belonging to a community. We have so many excellent independent businesses that offer a wealth of unique products and services.

The film also illustrates the passion and love that goes into every small business by the owners themselves, to deliver the very best for their customers and ensure our town centres are fantastic places to visit. Our small businesses in Bridgend, Porthcawl and Maesteg town centres offer customers a great choice for Christmas shopping as well as great service, beautiful traditions and innovation.

I encourage everyone to support our local businesses, not just during the Christmas period but throughout the year to ensure our town centres continue to thrive.
