Appeal for experienced care staff to support patients

Experienced care staff are being sought to help deliver care in one of the county borough's step down facilities for patients.
Abergarw Manor which is owned by the Caron Group has been refurbished to provide a number of additional beds to support the Princess of Wales Hospital during the coronavirus pandemic.
Lynne Garwood from Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board said: “The first group of 22 patients have settled well into home and plans for development are underway.
“There is capacity in Abergarw for 82 patients which will be divided into specific categories and units of care.
“We are looking for people who have previously worked in residential care or in similar roles to join our team in providing a range of care within the home. Support is over 24 hours and seven days per week, with a qualified nurse acting as lead to each shift.
“The team benefits from a multi-disciplinary approach to care, which includes input from a consultant psychiatrist, therapy staff, social work and nurses. We also have Age Connect and Mental Health Matters providing support for patients and their families.
“Abergarw Manor is our first community stepdown facility to open in Bridgend county borough – the role of our team is to provide general care and support and/or help support patients in their ongoing rehabilitation and recovery.

Bridgend County Borough Council has been working with the owners of both Abergarw Manor in Brynmenyn and the former Hyfrydol care home in Maesteg, to provide additional bed capacity to help ease pressure on acute beds across the region.
The health board has released a video detailing what the refurbished building now looks like inside.
Patients are referred by the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, being transferred from the Princess of Wales Hospital and the Angelton Clinic.
We are very grateful to Caron Group for having provided the building free of charge to the local authority and for its property team in their help with refurbishing it – they did an incredible job in very short period of time.
