		Notes:

		The reports on planning applications to be considered by Committee are available for public inspection at the Civic Offices three days before the date of the Committee meeting.

		Committee meetings are normally followed by an Extraordinary Council as soon as Committee concludes its business.

		What is the Role of the Planning and Development Committee?

		The Committee comprises every Member of the Council. The Committee is the democratic decision-making body for determining planning applications, listed buildings, advertisement and other planning matters that have not been determined by the Director of Environmental and Planning Services under delegated powers. Decisions are not taken on party political grounds.

		Committee has to determine all planning matters in accordance with the framework established by the planning legislation, relevant judicial decisions, government advice and the approved Development Plan and Supplementary Planning Guidance.

		The law requires planning decisions to be made in accordance with the Development Plan unless material planning considerations indicate otherwise. Members’ primary duty is to interpret and apply the Council’s approved planning policy.
