What is the Role of the Cabinet Committee – Children & Families?

     
   

To examine the implications for the Council’s budget of specialist placements for children looked after by the local authority.

     
   

To examine the funding streams, incoming and outgoing, and mechanisms applying to placements of children looked after by the local authority.

     
   

To examine how Council policies and procedures on the placement of children impact on the Council’s corporate parenting responsibilities

     
   

To examine the strategic, operational and structural factors influencing the Authority’s responses to the needs of children who may require to be looked after.

     
   

To examine the effectiveness of inter-agency working both with internal and external parties, on the needs of children and/or families assessed as requiring support and assistance.

     
   

To use case studies of children and families to develop an understanding of the relevant issues.

     
   

To make decisions and recommendations appropriate to these tasks.
