Litchard Primary School adaptations
This project will make the necessary adaptations to the existing school to enable it to operate efficiently as an all-through primary school of the required size and condition to meet the needs of 21st century learning. Plans include the replacement and demolition of certain temporary accommodation, upgrading the fabric of the buildings as necessary and provision of a physical link between the existing Infant and Junior buildings. The new facility will be a remodelled Community Focused School, with Nursery and Moderate Learning Difficulties provision.
The improvement works commenced in February 2011 and are expected to complete by March 2012.
This is one of the key schemes for which the authority successfully obtained funding from the Welsh Government’s school building transitional funding to help deliver.
The project is currently on target to achieve BREEAM ‘Very Good’, and will continue to be assessed throughout 2011 and the early part of 2012. Whilst the overall project will be developed using a combination of new building and refurbished spaces, the BREEAM assessment is being carried out on the new build element only.
