Reducing our impactIn recent years we have all become more aware of how our actions impact on the environment including how we travel, what we buy and how we use energy and resources. |
|
These simple actions can create consequences for the environment and therefore for people. If we are to create a more sustainable, happier and healthier world, both individuals and organisations need to change their behaviour and practises to minimise their environmental footprint.
How is Bridgend CBC reducing its impact on the environment?
Environmental Policy
To view the policy please contact the Sustainable Development Team.
Green Dragon
Bridgend CBC is currently using Green Dragon Environmental Standard to improve its environmental footprint. The Council has been awarded Level 5, the highest award in the scheme, and has also achieved the British Standard for Environmental Management Systems.
Impact Screening Toolkit
The Impact Screening Toolkit is intended to help Council officers in their decision-making when developing major initiatives. The toolkit looks at how to take into account sustainable development, health and well being, equalities and community safety issues when planning and carrying out major projects.
Green Office
Green Office programme currently being rolled out across the Council aims to engage staff in issues such as Climate Change and consumption of natural resources. As part of this scheme Green Office Champions are nominated and work other staff members to reduce their impact on the environment.
