CHANGING TRACK PROJECT 2010
During the Changing Tracks school program we have had discussions surrounding the recent earthquake disaster in Haiti. The young people expressed an interest in doing something to help the people affected by the disaster. They have therefore decided that they would complete a ‘Cyclethon’/ Marathon in a bid to raise money for the Haiti appeal. This started on the 24th February and will be completed on the 3rd March or until they complete the full 26 miles! A Haitian theme continued throughout the day on the 24th where the young people researched and learned about the Haitian culture, they also made Haitian spicy beef stew and Haitian rice which was very tasty!.
To date the young people have raised approximately £200 so a big WELL DONE to those who have taken part. We will update you in the next edition regarding funds raised and how the young people did overall. However, please feel free to make any donations to Debbie Hart at the Changing Tracks project to aid support to the young people and the people of Haiti for this fundraising event.

Other activities that have taken place are: the Winter Wonderland trip at Swansea which all of the young people enjoyed, the Welsh National Opera workshop where the young people engaged with opera singers and fun ice breakers. Also they attended the dress rehearsal of ‘Carmen’ at the Millenium Centre. This has provided the young people with new experiences and has enabled them to change their perception of what Opera really is.
A number of young people have worked hard in the last term and have completed OCN’s in Managing Your Own Health, Anger Management and Direct Mosaics. The young people designed their own Changing Tracks plaque which now holds pride of place in the Youth Service at Tondu!.
Congratulations to all of the young people who have participated within the Changing Tracks Project, well done for all of your achievements.
