New partnership for Outcomes Fund demonstration project
The Communities First Partnerships of Cornelly and Wildmill have been chosen by the Welsh Assembly Government to deliver a Demonstration Project under the Communities First Outcomes Fund. The innovative Family Employment and Social Enterprise Initiative was one of only seven successful applications. |
The project is a partnership between Communities First, Bridgend County Borough Council’s Economic Development Unit, Valleys to Coast and the British Trust of Countryside Volunteers.
The aim of the project is to create supported pathways to employment and training by engaging individuals and families in the delivery of small scale local environmental projects and providing a comprehensive range of support services which address barriers to employment. |
As well as providing a route to mainstream employment, the project will provide a focus for the development of estate-based social enterprises which will undertake environmental maintenance programmes under contract to Valleys to Coast, the housing association which manages the majority of housing in the two areas. |
The key outcomes of the project will be increased numbers of local people in work, greater opportunities for families and individuals to participate in a wide range of small-scale community environmental opportunities, and a clearer pathway to the development of self-employment, co-operatives, community businesses and social enterprises. |
