What is a Communities First Partnership?
In each Communities First area, the main responsibility for running the programme rests with the Communities First Partnership, membership of which is comprised of community members and representatives of the statutory, voluntary and business sectors. Each Partnership is supported by one or more officers who are employed, either by the Partnership itself, or by a suitable Grant Recipient Body (GRB) which acts on the Partnership's behalf. In Bridgend, where Bridgend County Borough Council is the GRB, each Communities First Partnership is supported by an Area Coordinator, Development Worker and Clerical Assistant. Communities First Partnerships work to develop a strategic Community Action Plan, which sets out the aspirations of the wider community, identifies issues of concern and prioritises actions the community wishes to take forward to address those concerns. More information on Communities First Partnerships is available in the Communities First Guidance.
