Arts and Community Development is dedicated to encouraging and developing local art in the local community. The Grand Pavilion in Porthcawl and the Berwyn Centre, Nantymoel hold regular exhibitions encouraging local amateur and professional artists to display their work. The Grand Pavilion also arranges art talks and workshops.

Last year, we held successful exhibitions in Bridgend town centre, Bryngarw House in Brynmenyn, Bridgend and the Grand Pavilion. Featuring inspiring work including photography from Peter Price, Peter Britton, Dan Wood and innovative furniture design from Bridgend College students, each exhibition has attracted immense attention and acclaim from members of the public.

Volunteers needed to help at art exhibitions

Help us work towards a permanent exhibition space. We are looking for volunteers to assist in arts exhibitions throughout the year in local venues in the county borough. Open to all those aged 18 and over, you will be able to meet professional artists, receive early notice of workshops and events, be invited to private viewings, talks or demonstrations, be on duty during exhibitions and have the opportunity to develop your artistic interests amongst other like minded people. Local children recently stepped in to a magical world of storytelling and crafts at Bridgend Library by meeting and working with Bridgend-based illustrator Cathryn Weatherhead, who was exhibiting her work in the library throughout February.
