Bridgend Youth Critics’ Scheme

Bridgend County Borough Council’s Arts and Community Development has been successful in securing funding from Arts Council Wales to develop the Bridgend Young Critics’ Scheme which aims to develop and showcase the voices of young people, encouraging them to think critically about the theatrical or musical productiosbn they produce. For those aged 12 – 25, under expert guidance young people will be able to explore the role of the art critic, coming up with different ways to respond to theatre and live art including Face book, Vimeo and Twitter.

Bridgend Youth Writing Squad

Are you aged 12 – 18? Are you a budding writer? Would you like to mix with like minded people to develop ideas and even see your work performed on stage? Would you like to learn more about the creative writing process under expert guidance? If yes, new members are always welcome.

Organised by Bridgend County Borough Council’s Arts and Community Development in conjunction with Academi – Welsh Literature Council for Wales, young people are able to explore new opportunities for creative writing including poetry, scriptwriting, journalism, fiction, author visits and so much more. Hooked On Books Adult Reading Groups

Friendly, informal and free to join, if you would like to chat about a book you loved, liked or even hated over a cup of coffee, you’ve found the right place! All books are available to loan from your local library. Our reading groups run from September 2010 to July 2011, and are free of charge.

Local children recently stepped in to a magical world of storytelling and crafts at Bridgend Library by meeting and working with Bridgend-based illustrator Cathryn Weatherhead, who was exhibiting her work in the library throughout February 2011.
