Chatterbooks

Chatterbooks is a national network of children's reading groups, run in public libraries. The groups are for 4-12 year olds and aim to inspire young people to read adventurously, develop confidence in expressing their opinions - and have a good time reading and talking about books!

In Bridgend County Borough, groups are currently running in Pencoed and Maesteg libraries in conjunction with local primary schools.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was exciting but a bit easy. The book gave information about football from the World Cup and when the countries won the World Cup and some of the greatest football players in history.

I thought the best part was when they were talking about the great players.

I would like to read other books on this subject.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was funny, exciting and cool. The story was about a Monster who wasn't allowed outside. The main character in the story was Gormy.

I thought the best part was when his body went big.

I would recommend this book to my friends and I'd like to read other books by Guy Bass

I enjoyed this book. It was exciting and cool. The story was about a girl called Elizabeth. Lizzie refuses to speak. She doesn't want to talk to her step-brothers or even her Mum.

The main character in the story is Lizzie.

I thought the best part was the happy ending.

I have read other books by Jacqueline Wilson and I would recommend my friends to read this book

I enjoyed this book. It was a good read, cool, serious and exciting.

The book gave information about tigers in the wild and how they live, how they hunt deer and birds. There are over 9 different types of tiger and 3 types are extinct.

I thought the best part was the hunting.

I have not read any other books by this author but I would like to read more on this subject.

I enjoyed this book. It was funny, exciting and a good read.

The story was about a poor Roman teenager called Farticus Maximus, with a flatulence problem who becomes the greatest gladiator of all time.

The main characters in the story were Farticus Maximus, Sinus Blockus, Rhina Blockus and Black Dog Brutus.

I thought the best part was when the director yells, "Cue the Farticus 8 month training to be a gladiator montage!"

I have not read other books by this author but I would like to. I'd recommend this book to my friends

The book gave information about gymnastics and showing you how to do gymnastics.

I thought the best part was when they were teaching you how to do cartwheels on the beam.

The story was about a Gingerbread man that ran away from an old lady and an old man. They were very hungry and sad.

I thought the best part was when the Gingerbread man ran away through the street.

The story was about a 16 year old boy who finds a dragon's egg.

The main characters are Eragon, Saphira and Brom.

I thought the best part was when the dragon starts to fly.

The story was about a boy who went to a camp and he was hanging off a cliff and Jake helped him by talking to him to get back on the rope.

The main characters in the story were Tim, Jake and Biscuits.

I thought the best part was when Tom was hanging off the cliff.

I have read other books by Jacqueline Wilson and would recommend this book to a friend.

It was about loads of different kinds of birds, some that live in cities, marshlands and lots more, and all different colours.

I thought the best part was about all the birds that are in danger.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was funny, exciting, cool, interesting and a good read.

The story was about Stanley Yelnats whose sentence is to dig hole after hole in the burning desert at a juvenile detention centre like no other. As his story unfolds, so does that of his ancestors. Will Stanley be able to dig up the truth before he falls victim to the family curse?

The main characters were Stanley and his friend Zero.

I thought the best part was when Stanley and Zero nearly die.

I have read other books by this author and I would recommend this book to my friends.

We had fun reading Roald Dahl's poems and we tried writing our own rhyming couplets - it's harder than it looks!
