The Youth Service in Bridgend County Borough is concerned with the fundamental and personal development of young people between the ages of 11-25.

It strives to encourage, involve and empower young people in a democratic and decision-making process, which will enable them to become active citizens in their community and an overall global society. The youth service also provides a range of innovative and diverse range of opportunities that address the identified needs of all young people. Through the work of the Youth Service young people are supported in a process that enables them to become valued citizens within their communities. If you need to know something, more often than not you need to know right now! You also need to be able to trust that your source is giving you reliable information. Jeannette Denley is the Principal Youth Officer of Bridgend Youth Service.

Bridgend Children’s and Young People’s Partnership is currently encouraging young people in and around the Bridgend area to create a web site for young people aged between 11 and 25. This web site will contain a variety of things which will be beneficial to you in your local area, keeping you up to date with issues which affect you, and giving you all the information you need. As well as this, you will have the opportunity to read about things which are important to you, view issue based films made by others in the area and much more. This web site offers the opportunity to communicate with others and to become more involved in your community. However, we have not yet thought of a name for this web site. The name can be anything, if anyone has any ideas, or would like to become involved in developing and creating this web site, please contact Sarah on justask@bridgend.gov.uk or on 01656 815150.

It's question time!

What do you really think about your youth workers? Most Youth Workers are trained to deliver youth work up to Degree level. Bridgend Youth Service is constantly striving to provide young people in Bridgend with an excellent service. This can only be done if youth workers are able to deal with all your needs i.e. emotional, social, educational, religious, political etc. etc. In your opinion what should youth workers be trained in to be able to support you in all areas of your life?
All reasonable requests will be considered.
