Libraries are ideal places to do your homework and you will find lots of information to help you with your school project. Libraries have books suitable for all Key Stages. With parental permission you can have free access to the Internet in libraries to help you with your school work.

It is also available in two special editions, Britannica Junior for ages 5-11 and Britannica Student for ages 12-18.

Using the Internet for School Work

There is lots of information on the web, but it can be overwhelming:

Can you trust information on the web?

Anyone can register a domain name and create a website, but is the information true and accurate? Check out who owns a website at www.whois.net for international names or www.nic.uk for U.K. sites.

When you are looking for information on the web you can never be certain that what you are reading is the truth, but you can help yourself decide:

Plagiarism

"Cutting" information from a website and "pasting" it into your own document is cheating and is called plagiarism.

It is fine to use internet sources, as long as you say which ones. Use the information you find on the web but rewrite it in your own words. At the end of a piece of schoolwork you should name the websites which helped you.
