Bridgend Occupational Therapy Services
Bridgend County Borough Council’s Occupational Therapy service can provide a range of equipment on loan to help disabled people to live independently at home or to help carers.
Equipment is available to assist with bathing, home nursing, toileting, dressing and home safety, together with a range of chairs, trolleys and stools. The equipment should be returned when it is no longer needed.
We can also arrange for small adaptations and provide advice and funding routes for more major alterations.
Who can get equipment?
Anyone who has a ‘’permanent and substantial disability’ and living in Bridgend County Borough may be able to get equipment following an assessment by one of our Community Occupational Therapists.
Equipment is generally provided to meet essential needs only and you may be advised to make your own arrangements for some items.
Is there a charge?
No charge is made for any items supplied by the service, and equipment maintenance where required is also free of charge.
Equipment is issued on loan and it is important that unused equipment is returned so that it can be issued to other people who need it.
Standards to Expect
Items held in stock at our Equipment Store can normally be delivered within ten days of the Occupational Therapists assessment. Items urgently required can be delivered more quickly. The delivery of items not held in stock will take longer and will depend on the suppliers or manufacturers.
All equipment is either new or thoroughly refurbished when issued and those items requiring maintenance are checked at regular intervals by trained staff whilst on loan.
