We will ask you some basic questions and send you an information pack which will include details about our meet and greet sessions we hold on a monthly basis.

At the meet and greet sessions you will be given a registration of interest form which you should complete and return if you wish to be assessed as a foster carer.

Once you have completed the registration of interest form a member of the team will be in touch to arrange an initial visit. At a later date you will be advised whether or not you have been successful. If you are, then the assessment process will start, which can take up to six months.

Five steps to fostering

There are five key steps to becoming a foster carer.

Step 1 - Contact Bridgend Foster Care for an information pack.

Step 2 - Attend a foster carer meet and greet evening.

Step 3 - Complete a registration of interest form and allow us to start CRB, local authority and health checks.

Step 4 - You will enter an assessment process which takes approximately six months.

Step 5 - On successful completion of the assessment, a report will be presented to the Fostering Panel. You will be required to attend the Panel with your assessing social worker. If successful, the Head of Service will ratify the decision and you will become an approved foster carer.
