The Gambling Act 2005
The Licensing Section will shortly be taking over the responsibility of Gambling from the Magistrates’ Court. The transititional period will commence from the 21 May 2007 and end on the 30 July 2007. During this period all current licence holders will be required to complete an application form and return to the licensing section for processing.![]()
The types of applications we will be dealing with will modernise gambling legislation. Local Authorities will be responsible for issuing licences in respect of premises where gambling takes place; such as in, club premises, alcohol licensed premises, bingo halls, betting premises including tracks, adult entertainment centres and family entertainment centres, registration of small lotteries and gaming machines.
