Verges and Highway Grounds
Bridgend County Borough Council looks after 52 roundabouts, 1,000 highway trees and many acres of highway verges.
Urban grass verges are cut 9 times a year. We have a policy of encouraging and protecting native flora on the highway corridors by restricting grass cutting in reserve areas.
Japanese Knotweed and Himalayan Balsam are major problems on the highway and selected problem areas are tackled by repeated treatments.
Many of our roundabouts are sponsored by commercial and community bodies. This ensures that the roundabouts are maintained to a high standard. If you are interested in sponsoring a roundabout please call (01656) 642541.
